Internet Salon Marketing - New wellness & beauty website

One of the best ways to get a free salon marketing boost on the internet is to add your salon business details to lots of the free Internet Yellow Pages and local business listing websites. Search engine optimization experts have discovered that, for local businesses like salons and spas, this can also boost your rankings in Google - even if you can only list your business name and address (take care to use a consistent format and spelling every time you add your address details to a directory). Of course, if the listing website also allows you to link to your salon website, that’s even better. And as the credit crunch turns to recession, we could all use a free marketing boost!

Last month, the Kelsey Group blog reviewed a new website, recently launched in the USA, focusing on health and wellness topics for women aged 30-55, and featuring listings of salons and spas - InnerRewards -

Spas and salon advertisers are a huge focus for local sites. They’re a Top 4 selection for Citysearch, and also rank highly on Yelp and other sites. Now they are being specifically targeted by InnerRewards, a new health and wellness vertical site for women launched by Julie Elaine Brown, a veteran marketer for Johnson & Johnson’s online community sites…

Clearly, InnerRewards has its eyes on the 15 percent to 25 percent of revenues that wellness businesses spend on marketing. It refers to itself as an “e-commerce site.” For businesses, InnerRewards is providing category-specific directories, enhanced by video. It also hopes to provide one-stop logistics, including gift certificates (perhaps similar to spaboom), online calendaring, analytics, etc.

Eventually, the site hopes to offer advanced services. These might include an “advanced B2B referral system,” as well as mobile appointment alerts, and synchronous video for live counseling and classes.

Content-wise, the site will feature columns, articles and reviews on broad horizontal subjects such as spas, yoga and Pilates

The new site is entering a very competitive market, only time will tell whether it succeeds in the long-term. But right now, it’s well worth adding your business, if you are in the USA - click on the “Add a Business” link at the bottom of their home page.
